I seem to see a theme happening . . . .

Last night I was fooling around with some diamond
shapes that Christie of Christie's Quilting Boutique gave me.

Then this happened.

I have some of Victoria Findlay Wolfe's template
to fool around with too.
Next up the Tumbler!

Now I have never really been a fan of the tumber shape.
But this I love!  Look how sweetly they fit together
to give an arrow effect.  And there are tons of other ways to use them.
I will keep experimenting and showing off!
Now I can cut up all the Kate Spain fabric I bought at Christie's! Haha.

My Quilter's ADD is in full gear,
two new quilts on the wall, one to be bound, one to be quilted,
and a pincushion to finish.
Where to begin?
Oh yeah and my GF Gidget is on her way to pick me up to go fabric shopping.
Someone lock me down!

What are you doing this weekend?

Pin Cushions

I may or may not be a little obsessed with pin cushions at the moment. Yes flea markets and pin cushions. Is there rehab for that? Never mind, I'm not a quitter, I'm a quilter, we never quit. Well maybe for chocolate or wine. Hehe.

A Hexie Star Quilt . . .

A few weeks ago, my pal Victoria Findlay Wolfe,
gave me her new templates to play around with.
Last week I pulled them out and starting cutting!

I had some Jennifer Paganelli fabric I was hording,
and I thought this would be the perfect way to show case her fabrics.

A great combo right?  Victoria and Jennifer!

I started kinda fussing cutting the Hexie's and Triangles
so the fabric pattern would look like one big start.

I used the same green fabric to set the stars.
Really makes them pop right?

I was getting so impatient because
I didn't have much time this week to play.
Hehe, I came home for lunch everyday and tried to cut some more.
The templates are very easy to use!
My day job just gets in the way of all my fun.

Finally last night, I had the whole thing cut and up on the wall.
Yahoo!

This morning I decided I needed to make hay
and get this baby all pieced together.
My design wall is in my kitchen, and my sewing machine
is in the living room.  Not a far distance, but I had no time for
all the up and down and back and forth!
So I set up my little Bernina on the kitchen counter
and put my ironing board right next to it.
Hehe.

I must say sewing standing up was fun,
kept me on task too.  I get distracted so easily.

Now here is the GREAT thing about these templates
and the layout I chose . . . .
It sews together in a flash and very quickly!
Sew the diamonds first.

Then sew the diamonds into rows.

I pinned at the intersections and got perfect points!
The templates have notched tips
and it makes the piecing together a dream.

Here I am multi-tasking!
I'm piecing on my sewing machine.
The dishwasher is humming away.
And I'm getting a steamy facial as I stand over it sewing.
Haha.

Here are my rows coming  together.
I used the triangle template to make some diamonds
to fill in on the sides.

TADA!  Four hours of stand up piecing (with breaks of course)
And I have a beautiful quilt top!
I really love those sides and am going to do tricky binding
on those edges.

Here are the templates.  A 10" hexie with a triangle that fits.

Thank Victoria!!
Now I have about 8 more ideas for quilts using these.
Hehehe  #youaretheculprit

One for me . . . .

After I made the "little" one for the Sizzix Challenge,
I decided I needed a bigger one for me!

I used some of the leftovers from the first one,
cut up more of what I had,
Added in a few others!

I put all the rings together.
This it the traditional layout.

Then I thought, what if I twist the rings a bit.
Okay, but not a total score.

Then I thought, Keep the rings the opposite way of the
setting centers.

Yes, Yes, Yes!

Mother's Day spent with the kid sewing
gave me a completed top.
AND a wonderful day with my kid . . .
She and her boy also cooked me dinner.
All is right with the world.

Total Chaos!

So this is what my sewing/living room looks like this morning. And I have to leave for the day job now. Wish I could just stay home and clean and sew!  What are you doing today?

Blogging . . . . .

 Blogging . . .
So this top picture won't move.
Thanks Blogger!

I decided to write a blog post because two of my Queeps
(quilt people friends)
Have been giving me the business about not blogging.
Apparently they actually read my blog posts.  Hehe

I find it funny, because really I'm a picture girl.
I don't need a lot of words.

I decided that, yes, I will try to give this old blog
some much needed CPR and return it from its
place of languishing in cyber space.

So once or twice a week I will photo bomb something in here.
Comment, don't comment, doesn't matter, just enjoy.

The top picture and this one under are my final pics
Love the way it came out! Have you entered yet?

Last weekend I was in Salem, MA for a two day class
Double Wedding Rings baby!
I'm doing my goldfish version of her Big Lights Bright City Pattern.

And then this happened.
I was fooling around with the arcs and they made a circle star!
Squeals of delight insued!
Two quilts for the price of one!

I've only made one star block, but I can tell this is going to be a quilt.
Maybe if I blow the pattern up huge, I can make a one block star baby quilt.
Because you know, I only have six other quilts in progress right now.
I guess it beats smoking crack for an addiction!  Hehe.

So Jacqui and Julie, thanks for the poke.
I will try not to let you down in the blogging world.
